And I gotta agree with you, I did watch Fraggle Rock as a kid since my cousin gave me VHSes of the episodes, and this particular episode always got me teary-eyed. Jim Henson really was a genius when it comes to programming for children ;^;
Fraggles: "ROCK! ROCK! ROCK! HEEEEEAVE!"
*CRUNCH*
(Everyone gasps in horror)
Gobo: "No.... No!! No, they're crushed! RED! BOOBER!! NOOOOO!!!"
Mokey: *eyes wide, in shock*
Gobo: "This... this is my fault. If I had gotten here sooner... Red..... I never got to tell her how I felt... Oh, Red..."
(Mokey stammers incoherently for a moment, then faints)
Felix the Fearless: "Oh well. Guess our best wasn't good enough! Let's get some lunch everyone!"
Gobo: "You son of a BITCH! I'LL KILL YOU!"
Wembley: "I WANNA KILL HIM TOO!! AAAAAAAGH!!!"
*bloody fisticuffs*
(real world, watching this horrible, bastardized version)
Me: (trembling) ... I don't like this new Director's Cut...
But seriously, very beautiful piece here. You really did capture the lovely moment. One thing I really loved about this show was the fact that it didn't sugarcoat absolutely everything. It was an optimistic show. But it wasn't afraid to include some strife and tragedy now and then. And this is a good thing, because without misfortune and sadness, hope and joy would be meaningless. This show could never have been so powerful if it had done otherwise. This episode was a truly sobering experience, and it really gets across the message about how precious and fragile life can be.
Sorry for subjecting you to my twisted sense of humor.
